Warm memories in a cold place.
I remember living all my childhood in a place 3824m above sea level. Although the climate was so severe that water freezed instantly, I recall moments that make me feel warm, cozzy and loved. My idea is to make the audience feel this contrast , and feel that home is never about the place but about being around the people you love. My inspiration are undoubtedly my family, my mom and my dad, that worked really hard to give their sons a decent education, and now my wife and our baby to come on december. Definitely home is wherever they are. My goal is always to make them happy and proud.

Getting to the final stage, the families that are helping me to tell this storie are finally ready. All this was done in the render engine. The goal is to give them this internal warm light that all of us feel when we are close to our loved ones.
In this final part I also added some VDB clouds to give more depth to the scene and complement the volumetric enviroment.

I started working in the main idea, which is to have this really cold enviroment, where the warm spots you'll see in the scene will be always the families.
I started modeling the terrains from scratch, even though the Retablo is small, I wanted to give the scene this natural depth that is usually produced by the distance. While doing this I thought of how a single person or family can have hundreds of anscestors, definitely a home is a lot more than our eyes are looking at.

I started modeling the retablo, the most difficult part was adding all the small decorative flowers. I went for a 3 leveled retablo. I will show different families, one with kids, other with pets, and also a old couple, showing the autum of life when the kids are grown and started their own familiy.

The most powerful idea of home comes in this peruvian decoration piece called ''Retablos''. This decorative piece is usally made in Ayacucho, Perú. Families put them in a place all the guests can look at. Retablos are a representation of the family traditions, histories, cloths, food and most important, Retablos shows all the family members doing something they love.
